Electric Power Regulatory Law Bulletin — New Edition

We are pleased to share a new issue of our Electricity Regulatory Law Newsletter, prepared by María Elisa Undurraga and Ignacio Allende, Senior Associates in the Regulatory Law practice group at Arteaga Gorziglia.

The newsletter compiles in a single document the main regulations in the electricity sector issued between January and October 2026, along with ongoing processes. In this edition, we review, among other topics:

  • Law No. 21,833 on electricity rate protection and Law No. 21,804, which refines the regulatory framework for medium-sized systems.
  • The amendment to the regulations governing small-scale power generation and the new operating rules for energy storage, which subject BESSs with a capacity of more than 9 MW to centralized dispatch.
  • The new technical requirements for converter-based systems.
  • TDLC Ruling No. 211/2026 on the inflexibility of regasified LNG.
  • Upcoming regulatory changes: the Electricity Networks Reform, the transmission regulations pending approval by the Comptroller General’s Office, and the 2028–2033 National Energy Efficiency Plan.

Several of these issues require a review of financial projections and business models.

We invite you to review the full details in the attached newsletter.
