Andrés Ossandón heads the Tax and Customs Law Practice of Arteaga Gorziglia. He specializes in providing tax advice to domestic and foreign companies, families and individuals in highly complex matters, with emphasis on the planning and implementation of corporate and tax structures, and advising on the legal and tax aspects of their investment decisions.

  • Advised Sumitomo Chemical, a leader in crop protection, on the sale for approximately US$100 million of the Pace business unit to Agrofresh, a company dedicated to offering pre- and post-harvest solutions.
  • Advised Highly Innovative Fuel (HIF) in the tax aspects related to the development and construction of the Haru Oni project, located in Punta Arenas in the Magallanes Region. Haru Oni is the world's first operating e-fuel facility, produced from green hydrogen.
  • Advised AME, a Chilean power generation company with an installed capacity of 865 MW and a portfolio of projects in environmental proceedings for more than 1,700 MW, in the sale to CMB Prime Administradora General de Fondos S.A. of 10.65% of Generadora Metropolitana.
  • Advising Redeco, real estate developers, in the sale to various investment funds of their commercial rental projects (strip centers, gas stations, shopping malls).
  • Advised IFU (Investment Fund For Developing Countries), a Danish investment fund with investments in more than 1,300 companies located in more than 100 different countries, in the sale to Innergex Chile, a leader in renewable energy generation, of its shareholding in the 34 MWp Pampa Elvira Solar photovoltaic generation project.
  • Advised Sembrador Capital de Riesgo S.A., manager of the private investment fund Fondo IV, in the sale of its hazelnut business comprising El Olmo SpA and Santa Cristina SpA to Ontario Teacher.
  • Advised Sociedad Austral de Electricidad S.A. (SAESA), a Chilean electricity generation, transmission and distribution company, in the acquisition from Enel Chile S.A., of Enel Transmisión Chile S.A. for a total amount of USD $1,350 MM.
  • Advised Walmart Chile in the planning and implementation of a reorganization consisting of a reverse merger with its parent company Inversiones Australes Dos Ltda.
  • Advised one of the largest retail companies in Chile in the tax aspects of a profit distribution of close to US$1,000 MM.
  • Advised Amanecer Solar, as borrower, in a financing with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, as Administrative Agent, and Banco Santander S.A., MUFG Bank Ltd. and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, as Joint Lead Arrangers, for approximately US$200 MM.
  • Advised Obton in the acquisition, construction and financing of a portfolio of 7 renewable energy projects in Chile, all of them acquired and under construction, for more than 60 MW, for an amount of USD $60MM.
  • Advised China Southern Power Grid International (CSGI), in its participation in a consortium for the operation and execution of the HVDC Kimal - Lo Aguirre Transmission Line Project (1,500 Km and 2,000 MW of capacity), for an amount of USD $1,500 MM.
  • Advised a Chilean group of companies, owner of several power generation assets, in the planning of a cross-border reorganization aimed at consolidating under a new holding company formed in the United States, several generation assets located in Chile.
  • Advised Grupo Inmobiliario La Reina, owner of the Espacio Urbano La Reina shopping center, in the sale of such asset to Credicorp Capital Asset Management, for approximately US$60 MM.
  • Advised Walmart Chile in the sale of its financial business (Presto Card) to Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (BCI), for approximately US$630 MM.
  • Advised Australian multinational Ixom in the sale of all its businesses, operations and assets in Latin America. The sale included Ixom's operations in Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Colombia.
  • Advised Colbún in the issuance and placement of bonds for USD$500 MM over a 10-year period, and in the acquisition of Colbún bonds already issued.
  • Advised Frontal Trust in the acquisition of the San Cristobal Tunnel and Américo Vespucio Norte concessions from Brookfield Infrastructure Partners. The value of the transaction was USD$770MM.
  • Advised Coopeuch, one of the largest financial cooperatives in Chile, in the acquisition of a prepaid digital card business.
  • Advising high net worth families in the restructuring of their businesses and holdings in Chile and abroad; generational transfer; and inheritance tax matters.
  • Advised several companies, belonging to different economic sectors, in obtaining the refund of VAT paid during the construction period of their projects in Chile.
  • Advice to exporters on how to obtain the VAT refund associated with their export activity.
  • Advising multiple domestic and foreign companies in their day-to-day tax matters and those associated with particular projects.
  • Advising several local and international companies in their defense in tax audits before the Internal Revenue Service and in tax lawsuits.
